Karla and Ryan

I had my first wedding of the season on May 24th. The weather was beautiful. The sky was blue and just enough wind to keep the bugs away. Karla and Ryan were a delight to photograph. They are a fun loving couple that made me laugh. Ryan's Irish family had such a great way of making everyone feel welcome. The party was wonderful. Everyone was dancing and having a ball. I loved the Irish music. Here are few favs of the day.

Prelude to trash the dress

I did a photo shoot late this afternoon with my daughter Jessica. Yvonne, my friend and assistant came along to help and shoot some shots herself. It was chilly but fun. I hope Jessica had fun and likes the shots. We will be doing a "Trash the Dress" session when the weather warms up. The water is a little cold right now. "Mess the dress" is when you get a chance to mess the dress a bit in the water, in the grass, lay on the beach, and take shots you wouldn't ordinarily get a chance to do on the wedding day. The ceremony is over so get dirty and have fun.

My Dog, LEON

Leon is part husky and part german pointer. We rescued him from the Conway New Hampsire shelter a year and a half ago. I had a no show for a portrait session. I had the studio all set up, the lights were all metered so I grabbed my dog Leon for a photo shoot. He wasn't all that into it, but he warmed up a bit and I got a few good shots. He got a few good treats.

wedding 101 class

In Early May I taught a Wedding 101 class for 9 Maine photographers. I was a wonderful day. It was very overwhelming for all of us. They were such good sports, the day was packed full of valuable information, models, and a church photo shoot. We were all exhausted, in a good way. view a few of the photos from that days shoot. ENJOY!

post cards

I just sent out my senior postcards to announce appointment availability. I have had a great response. I sent them out on friday, by Monday I have had 4 appointments made by 4p.m. and it's only May! I am excited for this years senior season. I have scouted so many new and funky spots. I still love some of my classic favorites, but some of these new spots are incredible. Having appointments this early in the season has allowed me to relax and get more creative. In past seasons it seems everyone waits until the last minute. This is hard because shooting 3 seniors a day with a deadline breathing down your neck can cramp the artistic side of yourself. I have a great feeling that this season will be one of the best to date.
Call early and save your spot before it's so late 562-9900!

Here are a few examples of senior promos that I created with help from my daughter. I have enjoyed photoshop and spend a great deal of time creating art from the images I shoot. Having a teenager give ideas of what teens like is very helpful.

This is an example of a story board. You can have 2,3,4, or up to 6 images on a 16x20 up to a 30x40 board. They are great to show emotion or tell a story of your child or children's personality. A milestone, birthday party, or just a day in a life.

new products from studio 6

I am very excited to offer new sizes for your portraits. Square is the new rectangle. This square format is new and fresh. They can be ordered in either prints, storyboards, or mounted versions on canvas or foamcore. They also come in stretched canvas. Metalic paper is also available in this new square format.

Ok, so it's been a few days. I have been busy with photo stuff and life in general. I can't complain to much about it, I have a wonderful life. I am able to have a career that I absolutely love, a incredible family, and friends that are very special.
I brought my best friend and my daughter to the movies on Sunday, we saw Spiderwick.
It was really good. I think the girls enjoyed it too. Going to the movies with then was exactly what I needed. It got me off the computer and out of the house, medicine for the soul.
Speaking of medicine. I rejoined the gym. I have been pretty inactive lately. Not a good idea at the age of 42. I was so active all of my life, teaching fitness was my life. Well it was my job for 15 years. lately though, it has been hard to keep a steady fitness schedule. I plan on going until summer and then pick up on my regular summer routine. Rollerblading walking, biking and hiking. Hopefully a whole lot off all of these activities. I plan to bring my camera on some of these trips.
NEIPP soon, New England Institute of Professional Photographers. I am studying with Hanson Fong who is a world renown wedding photographer from California. I am so excited and anxious. The resort is gorgeous and has a great workout room, to keep me on track. I leave on April 6th, I can't wait.
