Serena and Joe

Serena and Joe came in to the studio for their engagement portraits a week or so ago. It was a sunny blustery day. They decided to brave the cold and go out for a few shots. I am very glad they did, I love the location shots.
I am very excited about their upcoming marriage, they are a perfect couple. The love and respect they show for each other is inspiring.

FUJI MASTERPEICE AWARD AND JUDGES CHOICE!

I am very excited to announce that for the fourth year in a row, Studio 6 receives awards for photographic excellence at the Maine State Convention. "Primal Being" won
the Judges Choice and The Fuji Masterpiece. Studio 6 received 2 blue ribbons, and 3 reds overall. It was a great success.
The speakers were very educational and had great photoshop, lightroom, advanced portrait lighting, and marketing tips.
Adam and I modeled for Don Chick's Advanced lighting program. It was a pleasure to be photographed by a master photographer.
I have been asked to write an article on the process of Primal Being for Steve Bedell's EPHOTO news letter to his many followers.
I have also been asked by the Professional Photographers of New England to write an article for their newsletter about my photography journey. I am very honored to be asked by both.

New news soon about upcomoing campaigns. A big promotional fundraiser for Dirigo Middle School to raise money for the 8th grade class trip to NYC!

Also Studio 6 is searching for this years Senior Style Teams. More info soon.

Off to convention

I am heading out to Freeport today for the Maine Professional Photographers Associations annual print competition and convention. We have a great line up of
speakers from all over the country. It will be a fun filled weekend chock full of education and social gatherings.
I will let you know how I do this year! I will post my entries after judging is over.
I am a little nervous, but then again I am always nervous during judging.

Family First

My niece Olivia was at the studio and wanted a few portraits. I haven't taken any portraits of Olivia for years and never alone. It was a first and it was a treat. She has grown into a beautiful young woman. She will be a High School Senior soon and hopefully we can do an extensive shoot at the coast and in her neck of the woods.

Future America's Next Top Model

My niece Grace is so cute. After we did the Holiday shoot as a surprise for her Dad, she was hooked. She called and asked if we could do it again. Grace is obsessed with hats, she loves them and wears them all the time. As soon as she arrived at the studio she was ready for her "Shoot", as she called it. I decided to use just window light this time and work with my new backdrops. She has all the poses down, she gave me many facial expressions. America's Next Top Model is her favorite show, I couldn't tell!
I am sure we will do it again soon.

The many faces of Studio 6

I have been really busy with the calendar and personal shoots. I also have been meeting with numerous brides booking weddings for this summer. I have taken time to shoot in the studio with window light and my huge soft box. Here are some of the images I captured. I have been shooting engagement portraits too, those will be up soon.
Enjoy!
Check out Bri's window shots, they are beautiful!
Convention is in less than a week, I can't wait!

calendar shoots booked for January

We have had such an incredible response for the calendar and portrait shoot for our Intimate portraits and we are booked. I have one spot left the first weekend of February. Thank you to everyone who inquired and booked an appointment. It has been a really fun promotion and we will be doing it again in the early summer. This time it will be a location promotion. It may be at your home or on the beach or at a secret location. Details in the spring. If anyone has any great location ideas, give me a call. 207-562-9900.

Maine PPA Convention this month

I am preparing my seven 16x20 prints for competition for this month. I am very excited and anxious to see how the judges like my work. My portfolio this year is one landscape, one fine art, and the rest are portraits. Some are environmental portraits, and some are traditional portraits. We will see what the judges think.
It is always a heart pounding moment when you see your print come before the judges and they talk about what they do and don't like about it. You learn so much about your work from them. All the judges are trained and are masters in the art of photography. It's hard to hear negative comments but you grow from it and become a better photographer because of it. You just need to be thick skinned and learn from the comments. They will give you one on one time to talk about your work in depth. I hope to take advantage of that service this year. Being a board member and 1st Vice President takes up a lot of time, but I will do my best to take time for a personal critique.
If I win any awards this year, I will post them asap. Wish me luck.
