Keeping the Arts Alive Scholarship
I am so excited to give 2 scholarships this year for the "Keeping the Arts Alvie". The recipient for Dirigo High School is Garrett Keene. He is active in his community and at Dirigo with theater and visual arts. I am very pleased to help Garrett continue his passion. The Mountain Valley recipient will be announced soon.
I founded the "Keeping the Arts Alive Scholarship" to give back to the community. I have been photographing families, weddings, and seniors for over 10 years now and watched your children grow and mature into young adults, photographing some of their weddings, and even some of their babies. Wow, how the years fly by.
I have a fine-art sale to raise money for the scholarship. My students at Region 9 Adult Education donate a fine-art print to auction off. I auction off around 3 of my own fine-art for the scholarship. So far this year I raised over $300.00. I will be having another auction soon, I may coincide it with Brian's Bistro's grand opening. The Bistro is located at the Hotel Harris. A wonderful, newly open restaurant in Rumford. You have to go and try it. It is wonderful. Great food, Great prices. call for take out 364-3300

Relay for Life 2008

Our local chapter "Relay for Life" had it's annual walk at Hosmer Field in Rumford Maine on May 30th and 31st. It was a great success.
I volunteered my services for team and group photos and our local Wal*Mart printed the photos for the teams as a donation. We are so grateful to walmart for this generous donation.
I was very honored to so this for them. It was a wonderful experience. There is an enormous amount of emotions whirling around the field. The survivors walk was very inspirational. The prayer and song for the loved ones lost to this terrible disease was so touching. There wasn't a dry eye at the event. Once the walk started, lead by the local Fire and rescue, participants began to smile, laugh, and have a good time.
Hannaford presented a check for $7,026.77. What an incredible event. 20 Teams participated, 276 individuals raising $95,500.15 so far. If anyone would like to purchase a group shot please contact me at 562-9900. It will be $10.00 for a 8x12. Make your check out to the American Cancer Society, oxford chapter.

Chrissy and Wayne

I had a small intimate wedding at the Glenn House in Newry yesterday. It was a beautiful day, it did rain though. They decided to have the ceremony in the main living room. It has huge 30 foot windows which gave beautiful light. The bride and groom have the most stunning blue eyes. They were quiet and on the shy side. They were reserved but definitely in love. The ceremony was very short with about 20 guests. The family was wonderful. We shot a few poses on the front porch in front of the amazing custom double doors. I love the shot in black and white. I hope they enjoy their stay at the Glenn House, It's truly a gorgeous place.
Island Indulgence came to the Glenn House to do hair and make-up for the wedding party. They do such a great job. Call 207-364-7720 to make an appointment with Diane, the owner. You won't be disappointed. www.islandindulgencespa.com

Karla and Ryan

I had my first wedding of the season on May 24th. The weather was beautiful. The sky was blue and just enough wind to keep the bugs away. Karla and Ryan were a delight to photograph. They are a fun loving couple that made me laugh. Ryan's Irish family had such a great way of making everyone feel welcome. The party was wonderful. Everyone was dancing and having a ball. I loved the Irish music. Here are few favs of the day.

Prelude to trash the dress

I did a photo shoot late this afternoon with my daughter Jessica. Yvonne, my friend and assistant came along to help and shoot some shots herself. It was chilly but fun. I hope Jessica had fun and likes the shots. We will be doing a "Trash the Dress" session when the weather warms up. The water is a little cold right now. "Mess the dress" is when you get a chance to mess the dress a bit in the water, in the grass, lay on the beach, and take shots you wouldn't ordinarily get a chance to do on the wedding day. The ceremony is over so get dirty and have fun.

My Dog, LEON

Leon is part husky and part german pointer. We rescued him from the Conway New Hampsire shelter a year and a half ago. I had a no show for a portrait session. I had the studio all set up, the lights were all metered so I grabbed my dog Leon for a photo shoot. He wasn't all that into it, but he warmed up a bit and I got a few good shots. He got a few good treats.
wedding 101 class

In Early May I taught a Wedding 101 class for 9 Maine photographers. I was a wonderful day. It was very overwhelming for all of us. They were such good sports, the day was packed full of valuable information, models, and a church photo shoot. We were all exhausted, in a good way. view a few of the photos from that days shoot. ENJOY!
