Happy New Year!

Here is some of the wonderful families that Studio 6 created beautiful portraits for this holiday season. I had one family with 23 adults in the studio at one time. WOW, it was a challenge. I used the space well to create a traditional family portrait. Most of my families were around 3-5 members in the family. A few were babies and toddlers.
I had a great season and am looking forward to all 09 has to offer. I am sure it will be marvelous!

What's new in 09!

My new website is on its way. I am so excited about my new site. I can't wait to get it finished and show the world. I also have new one of a kind vintage backdrops on their way. I will post some of the pics as soon as they are here. They are so unique and artistic. The style of photography will be different than anything in the area to date. They are fun funky and fresh. I have models waiting to do shoots when the backdrops are here. Fedex hurry up!
Check back soon and you won't be disappointed.

New Logo for 09

I wanted a new logo and image that represent the color scheme of the studio. I love the blue and brown look. In a year or so I will probably be soooo sick of it. but for now, I love it. I get so many comments on the colors of my studio. It is very soothing colors.
I am trying to leave behind the "Photography by Christal", It has been hard. I have had that title for over 10 years now. It doesn't seem possible it has been that long. Studio 6 is where I create beautiful, art inspired portraits, and I want the studio to stand on it's own as a creative space that may house other talented photographer in the future.
Photography by christal is still my wedding business, but soon I will have to abandon the title to insure my clients do not get confused with two titles and two businesses.
Two titles, two successful and established businesses, you can't ask for more than that.
THANK YOU ALL FOR MAKING 08 ONE OF MY BEST YEARS EVER!

I am looking forward to 09 with optimism. I have a lot of new and exciting products and campaigns in the works and can't wait to launch them.
Check back soon for the latest news!

snox races at Black Mountain of Maine

Rock Maple Racing came again to Black Mountain of Maine this past weekend. It was a great turnout. 400 racers and numerous spectators braved the wind and cold on Saturday. The competitors put on an incredible show with jumps, hairpin turns, and negotiated the upper land mine moguls. They crashed, bumped and jumped their way to the checkered flag. This sport has a special place for me, I raced for 5 years, from 2000-2005. This sport is not for the faint of heart, it is rigorous and fast paced, an adrenaline rush. I loved racing and miss it a lot. Being there this weekend was bitter sweet, I wanted to participate but I know the pain my body would feel the next day. I was happy to just watch and capture some great images.

I saw this racer bobble in the land mine area and knew he was going to come off his sled. Sure enough he did. He broke his visor on his helmet and fortunately he didn't get hurt.

Happy Holidays

I have had such a busy and spectacular Holiday Season. I am so blessed and want to thank all my valued clients. I had a great time creating unique holiday cards for my clients and was so inspired to do one for myself. I hope you like it, It was fun to do and also fun to create in photoshop. My wonderful assistant took the shot. Adam and I came up with the theme and the poses and she captured it beautifully. Thanks Yvonne!

Mountain Valley Falcons, Western Maine Class B Champs

Congratulations Mountain Valley Falcons!
It was a rainy day at Hosmer field Saturday afternoon. The crowd didn't mind, they came to watch the Falcons take yet another Championship Title. I am not a sports photographer, but I enjoyed the experience. The shots are a bit 'moody" because of the rain. They are not as clear as I would like, being a portrait photographer and all, but I love the story.
Way to go Falcons!

sophie's precious parts

Ursula and Ernie came to the studio with their 3 month old daughter, Sophie. We did a lot of the standard baby shots. Mom and baby, daddy and his little girl, Shophie alone naked and clothed, then baby parts. Which is my favorite. They change so much and we forget just how precious and little they really were.

Can't let the cat out of the bag

I have been really busy with family and children photos, but I can't post most of them to the blog. The families are surprising their loved ones with portraits of themsleves for Christmas. I have to honor their requests. I wouldn't want a family member or friend to see them on the blog and let the cat out of the bag!

Work for new brochures and website in 09'

I have been playing in photoshop with new concepts for my new website and brochures for 09'. I have a brand new web template that I absolutely love and can't wait to get underway. I am so busy right now with family photos, sports teams, and studio work that this will have to wait until early 09. I have been to a few workshops recently and have been inspired by their photoshop skills. It's amazing what can be created in the computer, my examples are basic concepts and are no where near as extravagant as some of the other promos out there. I am new to photoshop promo art, but I am anxious to have the time to play more intensely. Check back for more to examples soon.

The many faces of Grace

My sweet little niece was visiting and wanted to play dress up. She knows I have a vast amount of clothes and hats for little girls and women in my studio for props. I let her decide what she wanted to wear, which was a daunting task for her. There are so many to choose from.
We had a ball and she was so funny. She really got into character with every outfit. She is growing up so fast and I am glad I took this time to spend with her before "Auntie" isn't cool enough to hang out with.
